Pumpkin flavor ice cream

Edy's makes a pumpkin flavor ice cream and it is delicious. Everyone should try it.

Tooting my own horn

I know I wrote a while back about how I placed 1st in my age group during the 6K that Sean and I ran a few weeks ago. We never were able to stay around for the awards ceremony, and it wasn't until yesterday that I received my little running trophy. Wednesday was my first day back at running intervals with the Colonial Road Runners since the Rock n' Roll half, and luckily they keep our awards to give us, so I got to pick it up after running.

I figured this is a good chance to show off my "little award area" in our game room. Since I've started racing, April of 2007, I have started to collect awards of many kinds. I love the ones that I can display in the game room, which allows me to toot my own horn a little. Don't get me wrong, I also love the useful gifts, which have included a water bottle, cute orange tote bag (with free embroidery, that they messed up on and I felt bad and never said anything but still use it), a pint glass (this was 4th of July so I was able to enjoy all of my favorite beverages out of this glass that day), the IPod shuffle (I wrote about that before), a backpack, and I'm sure many other things that I can't think of. Sean has also received a few awards himself, two which are displayed in the game room, both from the Shamrock Half Marathon that we ran together. You can see below the large plaque on the table, yeah the biggest award belongs to him. I'm jealous, but not that jealous, because he got a silly plaque and I got a diamond ring. You tell me, what's the better "prize?"

Sterling, Philadelphia and Severna Park

It has been a fun yet busy last few days.

Friday night we were supposed to play softball but due to the heavy rain on Thursday the fields were still a mess and the games were canceled. We used this opportunity to drive up and visit with Sean's sister and her family up in Sterling, VA. We were going to see Amy and Scott Saturday night in Philadelphia, but the girls, Anna (2.5), and Lucy (9 months) weren't going so we wanted to visit with them Saturday morning. We had so much fun with them. Amy had told Anna we were coming, so Saturday morning when she woke up in came in our room and was excited to see us. She jumped on the bed and she whispered "once Mommy wakes up we can go down stairs and watch Sesame Street and Barney!"

Saturday night was Sean's cousin Will's wedding up in Philadelphia. Around 10 am we left Sterling so we could get up to Philly with enough extra time for cheese steaks. Sean had never had a real Philly cheese steak, so we used this trip to do our own taste test. Pat's and Geno's are the two places to go so Sean suggested that we get one cheese steak from both.

Luckily they are across the street from one another so it was easy for us to get a steak from each place. We waited to eat both at the same time so we could give a fair assessment. Sean was really excited and both tasted really good, but both were different. Pat's had a lot of meat piled high, but it was chopped up in a bunch of pieces. Geno's had less meat, but it was full pieces and the texture tasted better to me. Overall Geno's was my favorite, and if we go back that would be my choice for cheese steaks.

After we finished our cheese steaks we checked into our hotel and got ready for the Wedding. The Ceremony was at the Historic St. George's Methodist Church, it was such a neat church and I'm sure there is a lot of history if I read into it. Alice looked beautiful, and you could see how in love her and Will are. They didn't stop smiling the entire ceremony.

The reception was at World Cafe Live which according to Will was a place of one of their first dates. The layout was perfect and the band they chose was amazing. The dance floor was full the entire night. Alice had a nice touch in the bathroom, with a basket full of flip flops for all the ladies. That way there was no reason to have to sit out a song and we could all dance the entire night. What would be a party without some pick up pictures as well, a trademark I developed at an early age when I was probably only 8 or 9 and I used to pick up my Uncle Ronnie.

Anyone who wants to see all the photos let me know and I can forward the album to you, there are way too many to post on here.

We got to bed around 1:30 am, and I only know this because I had to set my phone alarm for 7:30 am to get on the road for our wedding tasting.

Sunday morning came too quickly. I didn't get my normal 9-10 hours of sleep. Luckily I have an amazing fiance and he let me sleep in the car on our ride down in Maryland, and then again from Maryland to Virginia (I did drive for about an hour, but was so tired I didn't feel safe driving). We had our food tasting at our reception site, including entrees and cake and let me just tell you, the food was delicious! They made so much food and let us take home the leftovers, my co-workers were really excited for all of the cake I brought into the office today!

Now it's Monday evening, I just finished watching my favorite show ever Prison Break.

Luckily it's another short week, since we're driving down to Tybee Island, Georgia Thursday evening, for a short get away for Sean and myself. I'll post an update once we get back from that.

The Today Show in Williamsburg

I woke up this morning at 4:45 am, got ready and then met a bunch of my work buddies so we could try and get onto The Today Show. By the time we got down to Colonial Williamsburg, there were already thousands of others trying to get their one shot on TV as well. We were told that the crowd started forming around 1 am. We had no chance to get to the front or even get a scan through by the camera. We did see Al Roker a few times through a little hole through the million signs.

On the way back, we had to stop and visit with the Colonial Sheep, since they are always fun to watch.
Now I'm at work, exhausted and thinking about how comfortable my bed would be if I could just sneak home for a few hours. I have a feeling it's going to be a long day.

6K race/Engagement Photos at Camden Yards

Another busy weekend for Sean and I.

Friday night we played two softball games with our team "Brew Crew" and won both games. It was pretty exciting since we haven't won a game yet and although we had many errors in the field our batting helped us out and we were able to put two victories in front of us.

Saturday morning we woke up early to run a 6K in New Quarter Park. Sean agreed to run as well, and although he gave me a hard time in the morning, he was glad he did it when he was finished. This was a race held by The Colonial Road Runners and was a grand prix event. Being a grand prix race I was eligible for points and luckily I walked away with 5, which is the maximum you can get at any given race. The website isn't updated yet, but you can see, if you follow the link, that I am currently in the lead for the 20-29 age group. After this race I've increased my lead and am now at 29 points and second place is at 20 points. At the end of the racing season (only 3 more races) whoever has the most amount of points wins prizes. As everyone knows, I love prizes, big or small, therefore, even though my knee is killing me, I will continue to ice it and at least race these last 5K's of the season.

After the 6K Sean and I drove up to Maryland and stayed with our friend Sally. She has been nice enough to let us stay with her throughout our wedding planning so that we don't have to get a hotel. Not a lot of wedding planning happening this weekend, just engagement photos on Sunday morning.

Sunday morning we drove to Camden Yards to get our engagement pictures taken. Our first date was at Camden Yards, and we wanted something fun and special to us, so this was a perfect choice. Our wedding photographer includes an engagement session in his package, so it was a good opportunity to work one-on-one with him prior to the wedding. He promises to have the pictures to us by the end of the week, and I will post our favorites on here to share.

We have a busy next few weeks, with a wedding in Philadelphia this coming weekend, and a fun little get-away to Tybee Island, GA the following weekend.

Pat McGee Band

Sean and I have been going to see Pat McGee Band play live for the past 3 or 4 years. They are one of our favorite groups, especially to see live. Last night, we were fortunate enough to get a nice group of friends to drive up to Richmond with us to see them play at Toad's Place If you've never seen them play I recommend watching to see when they are playing in your area and buy tickets. You won't regret it.
