I'm finally getting around to writing about our amazing trip to Ireland. To help consolidate, I'm going to do 4 separate blogs, one for each region of Ireland that we visited.

Sunday May 31st Sean flew out to Ireland for our 12 day honeymoon. I chopped my hair off about an hour before heading to the airport.

We had a direct flight from Dullas to Dublin and we were able to both sleep on the flight. We arrived before 7 am Monday morning. We checked into our hotel, showered and then walked around Dublin.

Sean signed me up to run a 10K. Women's mini marathon. Flora was the main sponsor of the race. They make butter.

The race began, over 40,000 participants. All women. The largest women's only race in the world.

My biggest fan. Sean not only surprised me with the trip to Ireland but also surprised me by signing up for this race. I love him he knows me too well.

After the race we hung out in St. Stephen's Green. Walked around and drank a ton of water. I was super deydrated and since the first water stop wasn't until after the 5K mark I was really ready for some cold water. They had the best flavored water after the race. We took about 10 bottles and saved them to drink in our hotel room.

After the race we went back to our hotel room and they had a sweet treat and a little welcome note addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Murphy!

Enjoying a beer and listening to live music at the Temple bar. They took a break from the live music at one point and Ring of Fire was playing. This is the song we walked into our reception, so we thought it was pretty cool that they played it.

Tuesday morning we woke up had breakfast at our hotel and then did a lot of walking around the city.

We stopped by the Jameson Distillery but since neither of us are Whiskey drinkers we decided against doing the tour. We did enjoy a nice lunch at a restaurant across the street from the distillery.

We walked around and visited a flower/food market, and also a Capachin Friar.

The Gravity bar is at the very top of the Guinness factory. It has a 360 degree view of Dublin and it is where they give you your complimentary glass of Guinness to drink.


After the tour we walked around the city some more. According to my GPS watch, we ended up walking close to 10 miles that day! We went to The Bistro for Dinner and then back to the Temple Bar for music. Unfortunately they were not doing any live music that night.

We did see a street performing sing Ring of Fire, so it made us laugh, to hear that song once again.


Wednesday morning we decided to do the bus tour of the city. It was nice since we had walked so much on Tuesday. We saw more of the city and our first stop was the Gaol Kilmainham, a prison that was used in the first Godfather movie.

We continued on the bus tour and went to La Pizza for lunch. We had some pretty delicious pizza. We stopped at Trinty Campus, the large college and then decided to go to the Bodies exhibit at the Ambassador Theatre.

We then decided to do some shopping.

We bought a few souviners in this store, and Sean forgot our credit card in here as well. Luckily when we realized it was missing we ran back and the cashiers had it and gave it back to us.

For dinner we decided to go to the Arlington hotel for dinner and Irish dancing. The food and entertainment was pretty good.

We met two marines that had just returned from Iraq. They bought us a bottle of wine to congraulate Sean and I on getting married.

After dinner we walked back to the hotel. Dublin is both beautiful during the day and at night.
